US President Donald Trump has called on Ukraine to hold a new presidential election, saying Volodymyr Zelenskyy should negotiate a deal with Russia to stop the fighting.
Trump also pointed the finger at Zelenskyy for increases in diesel prices in the United States, warning Kyiv to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries he argues could deliver American fuel.
The statements came on 10 October 2026, the same day Britain's Prime Minister held a separate phone call with Zelenskyy, according to the UK government.
